Its been about 5 years since Nokia Mobile division turned into Lumia, owned by Microsoft. Couple of years ago Nokia launched few ‘X’ series of Android powered smartphones but they didn’t went well and failed to acquire users attraction. No doubt, Nokia is one of the best brand we have ever known in technologies. And so, finally Nokia is making its return to Smartphones market with the launched of new ‘Nokia 6’, an Android 7.0 powered smartphone.
We have been reading rumors that new Nokia phone is making its way during MWC event but HMD Global, the new custodians of the Nokia, has silently launched Nokia 6 on their official website. The phone not only seems beautiful in metal design but it is also powerful inside, at the budget price. Let’s take close look at the phone and its specifications.
Nokia 6 comes out of the box running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, however, we still don’t know what new software features Nokia is offering to compete with other similar phones in the market. It also has a Fingerprint sensor integrated with the physical Home button on the front. Nokia 6 is Dual SIM device with separate MicroSD card expansion slot.
Under the hood, Nokia 6 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 ( 4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex A53) Octa-Core 64-bit processor accompanied by Adreno 505 GPU. There’s also 4GB LPDDR3 RAM making multitasking and performance smoother. As per storage, we get onboard 64GB memory which can be further expanded up to 128GB using microSD card.
The new Nokia 6 sports a 5.5 inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display offering 450 nits brightness and 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It is protected further with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 offering better durability. Nokia has packed the device with 6000 series aluminium Unibody.
For photography fans, the phone carries 16 Megapixel rear shooter with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF, 1.0um sensor and f/2.0 aperture. For selfie fans, there’s an 8 Megapixel front-facing camera with 1.12um sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 84˚ wide-angle lens. Nokia 6 could also be good choice for music listeners with its smart dual amplifier chips (TFA9891) offering 6dB louder sound and Dolby Atmos. It carries two speakers, one at the bottom another on top of the phone.
As per connectivity, Nokia 6 supports 4G LTE with other standard connectivity features such as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG. Nokia has backed up the phone with 3000mAh built-in battery.
Pricing and Availability:
The new Nokia 6 is priced at 1699 CNY in China, i.e. approximate 245 USD or Rs. 16,750/- It will be available via JD.com soon in future this year itself. Unfortunately, there is no confirmation of launching Nokia 6 in any other country. Probably it is only China exclusive.
